Answer 1

Answer:

SOME CHALLENGES I FACED WHEN LEARNING TO RIDE A BICYCLE.

Learning how to ride a bicycle at a much older age of twenty two was quite a challenge. I never showed interest in riding a bicycle when I was much younger but subsequently as I grew older and became more active in athletics and fitness, I had to take an interest into cycling.

The first day I tried riding the bicycle, I lost my balance and fell. I had to go at it for more than two hours before I could be confident enough to ride it on the road.

I also noticed that after riding for that day, my legs were sore and I had to take care of my stiff leg muscles so they could recover on time and heal.

By the next time I rode on the bicycle, I was more comfortable. Next, I was doing bicycle tricks, believing I was a BMX champion.

How can the miller's daughter be described based on the excerpt below? Then she grieved sorely at her misfortune, and said she would give him all the wealth of the kingdom if he would let her off, but in vain; till at last her tears softened him, and he said, 'I will give you three days' grace, and if during that time you tell me my name, you shall keep your child.' unselfish wise spiteful

Answers

Answer:

A). Unselfish

Explanation:

As per the given excerpt, Miller's daughter can best be expressed as 'unselfish' as despite her father has lied and deliberately dragged her in this entire situation. This quality is clearly reflected when she is 'grieving sorely at her misfortune' but doesn't break her loyalty towards her father. However, she later turns cruel when she does everything she could to protect herself and offers her first child in return for the queen's title. But in the given excerpt, she could be considered 'unselfish' as she doesn't expose the follies of her father. Thus, option A is the correct answer.

What theme is portrayed in this excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich? In reality it was just what is usually seen in the houses of people of moderate means who want to appear rich, and therefore succeed only in resembling others like themselves: there are damasks, dark wood, plants, rugs, and dull and polished bronzes—all the things people of a certain class have in order to resemble other people of that class. His house was so like the others that it would never have been noticed, but to him it all seemed to be quite exceptional. He was very happy when he met his family at the station and brought them to the newly furnished house all lit up, where a footman in a white tie opened the door into the hall decorated with plants, and when they went on into the drawing-room and the study uttering exclamations of delight. He conducted them everywhere, drank in their praises eagerly, and beamed with pleasure. Read the excerpt from "The Royal House of Thebes."
Antigone and Ismene heard with horror what Creon had
decided. To Ismene, shocking as it was, overwhelming
her with anguish for the pitiful dead body and the
lonely, homeless soul, it seemed, nevertheless, that
nothing could be done except to acquiesce [to accept
without protest]. She and Antigone were utterly alone.
All Thebes was exulting that the man who had brought
war upon them should be thus terribly punished. "We
are women," she told her sister. "We must obey. We
have no strength to defy the State." "Choose your own
part," Antigone said. "I go to bury the brother I love."
"You are not strong enough," Ismene cried. "Why, then
when my strength fails, " Antigone answered, "I will give
up." She left her sister, Ismene dared not follow her.
How does Antigone's action as a rebel reveal the
universal theme?
It shows that she is tired of being alone, revealing
that loneliness is difficult for people to handle.
It shows that she can break the rules for her
principles, revealing that women are as capable as
men.
It shows that she does not side with her sister,
revealing that families should stick together.
It shows that she pities Ismene, revealing that
understanding leads to right action.

Answers

The correct answer is B. It shows that she can break the rules for her principles, revealing that women are as capable as men.

Explanation:

In the excerpt presented, it is described how Antigone opposes the actions of Creon as he wants to stop Antigone and her sister from burying his brother. Indeed, even if Ismene (Antigone's sister) expresses they must obey "We are women...We must obey", Antigone decides to break the rules and disobey "I go to bury the brother I love" inspired by love and own principles. These actions indirectly show the reader women can break the rules and be as strong as men. According to this, the universal theme (underlying idea understood in cultures around the word) expressed when Antigone breaks the rules is i"women are as capable as men" (Option B).

Answer:

What sentence signals a plot twist about halfway through what of this goldfish would you wish

Answers

This question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

Which sentence signals a plot twist about halfway through the story?

“The kid with the earring starts screaming, ‘Goldfish, goldfish.'”

“‘No reason to take him to the hospital anyway,' says the goldfish.”

“Sergei . . . tells the kid, it's nothing, just a regular goldfish.”

“Sergei understands the boy . . . came . . . to snatch Sergei's fish.”

Answer:

The correct answer is “‘No reason to take him to the hospital anyway,' says the goldfish.”

Explanation:

A plot twist is a radical and unexpected turn of events that occurs suddenly for the viewer and that has enough relevance to change the fate of the protagonists of the narrative who suffer from it.

In short, and in simpler words, a plot twist takes place when there is an event that no one expected and that makes a 180 degree turn to what had happened previously.

In this case, it would be the fact that Sergei does not want to use his last wish because he does not want to let the goldfish go free.
