How does priestly present mr Birling as a selfish character ?

Answers

One instance of selfishness is with the Birling family, who appear to live in their own “comfortable” bubble of wealth and avarice, which inhibits and warps their views of the world. For instance, the stage directions describe the “suburban” Birling family home as “pink and intimate”. The use of the adjective “pink” connotes ‘rose tinted spectacles’; the sense that the Birling family has a nostalgic, anachronistic and out-of-touch perception of the world, implying they are detached from the realities of modern Britain. This feeling is further augmented when the Inspector arrives and shatters their rapacious ignorance. The lighting changes drastically, going to “brighter and harder”. The implication of such a change is that the Inspector is shining a light (as though in a police interrogation) on areas the Birlings had never previously seen (because of the ignorance afforded to them by their greed and selfishness).

Tendrils of smoke encircled the terrified girl, as she gingerly stepped towards the intimidating door.

It stood, in magnificent glory, its brass handle simply beckoning her to turn its handle and venture inside.
The eerie strangeness of it all was almost palpable, filling the girls stomach with dread.

As her fingertips grasped the handle, the door made a loud creak, sending her flying backwards and having to recompose herself.
She took a deep breath, and stepped inside, feeling the weight of the situation disappear as she was surrounded by light.

As she regained consciousness, she realised she was in a snowy forest, the white snowflakes gracefully dancing and landing on her pale face.
The creatures of the day had long since burrowed in their homes, the nocturnal creatures curled up in their own alcove.

Time stood still in that beautiful forest, it was as though the forest had taken a paintbrush and painted an image of its own.

can someone write a 4-5 argumentive essay about teachers being allowed to carry guns, if that doesnt work then do schools having armed guards.

Answers

Answer: I strongly believe teachers should have easy access to a gun or other firearms. With proper training, a gun could save lives in an emergency or life-or-death situation. School shooters are rare, but in the event where you need to save your life, a gun is the perfect solution. If teachers were trained to use a gun properly, he/she could save the lives of students, and themselves, in a responsible manner. However, a gun wouldn’t just be granted upon them. A teacher running around with a free gun could be dangerous to the students or other staff members. We would need to be careful with the teachers access to gun use.

Answer:

I think that teachers should have access to firearms for protection ONLY. School shootings happen daily and having teachers who are trained and know how to properly use a firearm could save lives. The firearm should be locked in a cabinet or a spot that only the teacher knows with some sort of lock that only the teacher knows how to unlock. Theyre should also be some sort of contract the teacher signs that makes them agree to only use the firearm in absolute emergency.

School shootings happen daily all over the world and they take many lives. Not all shooters are caught and brought to justice having some sort of protection can lower the chances of the shooter escaping. The students would most likely feel safer with some sort of protection agaist an intruder. There have been 22 school shootings this year. There have been 114 school shootings since 2018. Think how many less shootings can happen if there is some sort of protection against the shooters.every year, more than 3,500 children and teens are shot and killed and 15,000 more are shot and injured. An estimated 3 million children in the US are exposed to shootings per year. Witnessing shootings—whether in their schools, their communities or their homes–can have a devastating impact. Children exposed to violence, crime, and abuse are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol; suffer from depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder; fail or have difficulties in school; and engage in criminal activity. The children of this generation are going to be the next people running the world is that really what we want for our future as the human race?

Of course proper training is required before firearm use. Proper training can ensure the students and staff safety that way no accidental injuries happen. Proper training can also prepare the teacher/gaurds for how the firearm will react when going off, and can ensure that no damages are done to the building. As ive prevously mentioned that shootings in anywere can cause trauma and that can serously affect someone mentally and affect there future. Training and education on the firearms can save many lives and prevent many injuries.

The firearm should obvously kept out of reach of the students, either hidden in a hard to reach place that only the teacher knows and/or have some sort of lock that only the teacher knows how to unlock. This will ensure the safety of the children, a firearm in the hands of children can be dangerouse. There also needs to be a sighned document agreeing to only use the firearm in absolute emergency and if that agreement is broken the school should be allowed to sue. if the students have to put trust in the teacher so should the rest of the school and school district/system.

There are risks, as we've seen kids are smart, smarter than we let on. There is alot of trust to put it in not only the teachers but the kids as well. however the pros outway the cons by a long shot, and I personally think its worth taking that risk.

Ginsburg argued for the petitioner. A jury convicted Billy Duren of first degree murder and first degree robbery. Duren alleged that the selection of this jury violated his Sixth and Fourteenth Amendment right to a trial by a jury chosen from a fair cross section of the community. Specifically, Jackson County allowed an automatic exemption from jury service for women upon request. While women made up 54% of the population in the Jackson County, only 26.7% of people summoned from the jury wheel were women. Defendant had an all-male jury selected from a panel of 48 men and 5 women. The Missouri Supreme Court affirmed the conviction, questioning the validity of Duren’s statistics. The court also held that even if women were disproportionally excluded from jury service, the amount of women who participated in the process was well above constitutional standards.

Answer:

Besides, this Duncan

Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been

Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" revolves around the story of how Macbeth propels himself to be the King of Scotland. But despite being king, he would also bring about his downfall in the end.

Act I scene vii of the play reveals Macbeth's reluctance, at some point, about killing Duncan. But if he did not do that, then the throne will not be his. So, pressurized by his wife, he did the deed of killing Duncan and putting the blame on the chamberlains.

But, the opening scene shows Macbeth revealing his true opinion of the King. He admits "Besides, this Duncan

Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been

So clear in his great office, that his virtues

Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against".

These lines reveal how Macbeth considered Duncan to be a good man, whose virtues will speak for him even in the afterlife.

"Gluten-free" products and advertisements seem to be everywhere. What is this thing called gluten, and why are so many people suddenly cutting it out of their diets when they have been consuming it for years without debate? Gluten is a general name for protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and triticale. It acts as a glue to help certain foods maintain their shape. Most people think that gluten exists only in bread, baked goods, and cereals, but it is also found in soups, sauces, salad dressings, and many other foods that are less commonly known to be associated with wheat. Some scientists claim that gluten is a strange protein and inherently difficult for humans to digest. The reason for this is that there has been a change in the way wheat is produced in the United States over the past several years. Modern cultivation of wheat is done in order to boost the protein content. Research has shown that gluten being used in "modern wheat" makes breaking down certain foods hard on the stomach. Some Americans just happen to react more severely than others to gluten. The symptoms of gluten intolerance vary from person to person. Eating gluten has recently been discovered to contribute to such medical issues as irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, acne, and depression, just to name a few. Another more serious reaction to the consumption of gluten is referred to as celiac disease. About 2 million people in the United States suffer from this disease. Celiac disease is an autoimmune digestive disease that interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food. This disease is serious as it can lead to a number of issues including neurological disorders, reduced bone density, and sometimes cancer. Eating in restaurants or in other peoples homes is challenging for people with celiac disease because knowing which foods contain gluten can be difficult. In general, people should educate themselves about the ingredients found in different foods, but people who are particularly sensitive to gluten have to be even more diligent. There are no pharmaceutical cures for gluten intolerance, so some people must manage their gluten intake by being aware and adhering to strict diets. While celiac disease is the most extreme case, eating a low or no gluten diet can indeed provide health benefits for many people. In fact, many Americans have found that abstaining from gluten has helped improve their lives.
