5. Look down at your feet. Are you wearing shoes? Why? People wear shoes for many
reasons. The first and most important reason is to protect their feet. Shoes keep people
from hurting their feet while walking on rough surfaces, but this isn't the only reason
why people wear shoes. Some people wear special shoes that are designed to help them
play a game, like bowling shoes or soccer cleats. Some people wear expensive designer
shoes so that they appear fashionable and feel good about themselves. And a lot of
other people like my dad wear shoes so that their feet won't stink up the room.

write an informational article about Machu Picchu for a website that focuses on travel to places of historical interest. Write an article that explains to tourists the significance of Machu Picchu as a travel destination. Your articles must be based with ideas and information that can be found in the "Machu Picchu" passage set
Answer:
Nestled between the Andes and Amazon Basin is a historical site like no other. Built in the 15th century and conquered by the Spaniards in the 16th century Machu Picchu was trapped in time until the early 1900s, when it was discovered again. Sitting at more than 7,800 feet above sea level it is surrounded by mountain slopes, peaks and valleys. Machu Picchu is the last known Inca stronghold, and it provides a glimpse of the life many Inca’s experienced during the 15th century. The breath-taking cultural site is one of the most signifigant and prized travel destinations in the world. The construction of Machu Picchu was set out to a rigorous plan and according to Historic Santuary of Machu Picchu by UNESCO it “comprises one of the most spectacular creations of the Inca empire.” Several individual quarters may be noted in the ruins including hanging gardens and a ‘royal’ quarter. The building layouts of Machu Picchu provide a glimpse for visitors today to see what the construction and architecture was like in the 15th century Inca empire. All of its giant walls, terraces, and ramps seem to be cut naturally from rock escarpments. The Stones of Machu Picchu by Duane Damon stated that the larger stones of the granite building blocks appeared to weigh 10-15 tons! Every stone was also carefully cut and “exquisitely fitted together.” The use of natural raw materials to provide architecture is said to be one of the world’s greatest examples. It’s no wonder why all kinds of people flock to Machu Picchu to examine the spectacular architecture.
The Stones of Machu Picchu claims that Machu Picchu is one of the world’s great archaeological wonders. Not only does it contain spectacular architecture but the natural setting of Machu Picchu also encompasses its unique enviromental habitats for plenty of unique animal species and rich diversity of flora and fauna.
Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu by UNESCO says Machu Picchu is in some of
the scenically most attractive mountainous territory of the Peruvian Andes. The
surrounding valleys have cultivated exceptionally well for over 1,000 years and
some of the habitats give homes to endangered species. Several of them include
the spectacled bear, the dwarf brocket, and the Andean condor. When the ruins
were first discovered again in 1911 by Hiram Bingham he described them as
“covered with trees and moss, the growth of centuries”, as told by Duane Damon
in The Stones of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu also contains many historical artifacts. Inca graves, stone dishes
and several bronze implements were discovered, as stated in The Stones of Mach
Picchu. The site contains many major historical and cultural inflences and some of
the people who live around Machu Picchu continue a way of life that resemble their
Inca ancestors, being based on potatoes, maize, and llamas. Although Machu
Picchu has stood for a long time, safety and sanitary issues for travelers and
visitors have started to emerge. However, don’t fret because high quality and new
long-term solutions are being built for the natural wonders. Machu Picchu is a very
unique sight not only for its educational value, but also for its condition.
Machu Picchu is a very signifigant travel destination for many reasons which
include its historical signifigance, amazing structures, and spectacular
enviromental sights. Located in a breathtaking natural setting, the city’s beauty
comes from its amazing architecture and mountaintop views. Visitors from all over
the world flock to the “city of the clouds” every year to get a glimpse of history
uncovered. They look, refect and wonder about many of the unanswered questions
surrounding Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu gives the modern generations a look
back to a time like no other and the experience is sure to last a lifetime.

Fairies are wonderful creatures, filled with light and joy. With little silky wings and anglelic voices. They dance on the wind and fill the skies with laughter. But within them lies a darkness, like all creatures have. And when you hurt them, the darkness takes over. their wings turn black and sharp, their light turns to shadows and their voices turn to screams, They hold to hate and anger, to all the dark things that swim in mens minds, they know joy no more, and they wish to steal yours. So, Please heed my warning. and I will tell you a story, anout a fairy whom was betrayed, a fairy who lost her way, a fairy whos tears stained the world.
Chapter one
Her feet skim the forest floor, her hands brush the trees, her eyes close and her lips sing. slowly she rises, her feet no longer on the ground. Her hands drop to her side but her fingers splay out and dance to her song. She twirls with grace and rises, higher, higher, higher. And following her, little bodies of light, singing a song, only they remember. They swirl around the girl and kiss her cheeks, she smiles and slows to a stop, just hovering there, above the treetops. The fairies whisper in her ears and giggle holding out their little hands, expectant. The girl laughs, a beautiful, hypnotic sound. "Shh, my little friends, here you are. Quiet now. share, would you?" She hands them crumbs of cake, velvet and chocalate and all the flavors of the wonderful substance. The fairies smile and their tinkiling filles her ears. "Yes, i know. you won, you caught up to me - but it IS harder to be faster, seein how i'm bigger than you and all." they circle her head and perch on her shoulders "But soon i'll be faster than all of you. and not even the ancient peter pan could catch me!" she smiles with the thought and slowly drifs down to the forest once more. Waving goodbye to her little friends, she races again though the forest, her feet not touching the ground.
OR....
She shuffled her feet and sighed, making it quite obvious that she was upset. The caseworker didn't respond. Of course. Why would she? She was only uprooting her life again. Home-hopping wasn't fun. . She had been in what? Three homes in the past year? She tried to be good, be the best. But she obviously wasn't good enough. she must have done something wrong. Something must have made them not want her. She just didnt know why she wasn't good enough. She fiddled with her name tag, which read Aria, or it was supposed to, it actually spelled Area. Sighing again she tried for a more vocal approach.
"Ahem." She raised an eyebrow, trying to hide the sour sting in her heart. the caseworker finally looked up "What? You hungry? Thirsty?" She shook her head after a second "Just sit still, we will have you relocated soon enough." Relocated? Was she a dog? "I was just gonna ask why i have to leave another house." The caseworker sighed "Because of...Difficulties." Aria frowned thats all they ever said. "difficluties." She hadn't relized she said it out loud until the caseworked sighed louder than she had before. "Listen, it just didn't work out. You'll be in a new home soon." Aria clenched her jaw "It's not really a home when you only live there for four months." This time the caseworker ignored her. So Aria leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. wringing her hands until they turned white.
When she opened them again the sky had turned to a pink shade, and she watched for a second as it slowly sank towards the ground. She glanced around and met the eyes of her annoyed caseworker, who obviously wanted to go home. "Get up. You're sleeping here toninght."
"What-?" Aria clenched her hands, digging her fingers into her palm.
"I said you're sleeping here." she jabbed a finger towards a room, the door was slightly ajar and inside was a table a couple chairs and a couch. Aria frowned "On a couch?" the caseworker nodded "I'll be in the next room."

Answer:
It was a dark quiet night, Halloween night when Celestia screamed. Celestia was a dragon human hybrid with dark blue hair and kind light blue eyes, dark blue wings, a dark blue tail, her hair was always in what looked like two buns on top of her head the little bit of hair that was too short-covering her ears with her bangs shadowing her face, she was in a witch costume that was black dark purple and dark pink with a black hat. Nikki came running her longish white and purple hair in a messy bun, she was wearing her mad scientist costume but the fake blo.od looked suspiciously realistic. Wannabe ran in looking like the human form of sans along with Angel a few feet behind him dressed as a fairy. Nikki stood staring trying not to cry. Nikki’s friend Emery came in wearing her police uniform on and blue blonde hair up in a ponytail along with Rihanna in her outfit that she wore at her concert the night before, the light baby blue costume made her light pink eyes stand out and her fox tail nearly invisible under a big black bow, her hair in ponytails right behind her fox ears. The two stared in horror at what seemed to have happened, one of their friends had been brut.ally mu.rdered but their face was unrecognizable from the damage. Nikki stood up and took a headcount matching names with faces until she realized who it was. “I’m going to find the person who did this and make them pay,” Nikki said in a dark evil angry voice, she was mad and near her breaking point. Nikki left the room unable to look at her friend lying there dead while everyone else looked at each other. “Kind convenient YOU found him like this Celie…” Rihanna said to Celestia glaring at her, the two never liked each other and were always fighting. “First of all, I couldn’t handle the blo.od. Second of all, that’s my friend! Why would I hurt him!?!?” Celestia snapped, angry she was accused of the crime. “You found him like this. That's a little suspicious don’t you think?” Rihanna said giving Celestia looks. “I hate to say this but Nikki could have been faking the blood on her costume looks a bit too realistic…” Angel said her voice trailing off, she hated to accuse Nikki but at this point, they were all suspects except for Angel. She had said before that she'd never been able to kill someone and get away with it she’d end up admitting she did it. Nikki came back in a completely different costume, her Sara Sanderson costume to be exact. “Why did you change costumes?” Angel questioned Nikki, changing costumes because there was what looked like blood on the other was suspicious. “You act like I can choose to wear only one costume, heck I’ll probably end up wearing a cosplay before we figure out who did this,” Nikki answered, it was true Nikki tended to wear up to ten outfits a day so why would today be any different? Emery glared at Nikki, she didn’t believe her story. “Seems pretty convenient she had to change costumes so soon...” She thought suspecting Nikki was hiding something. “Let’s do this Danganronpa style!” Angel shouted, she had always thought how they did the class trials on that anime and in the game was cool. Everyone got to a podium and glared at one another. “I was passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters,” Rihanna said then turning her head to Celestia who was on her left. “I was in the Bathroom,” Celestia said, nobody was going to question her now. “I was fixing my fursuit, one of the ears fell off,” Nikki said with the tail to her fursuit in hand. “I was outside sitting on the porch,” Emery said pointing at the door. “I’m too dum.b to pull something like this off you guys know this,” Angel stated honestly, she wasn’t the brightest bulb. “I was in the kitchen when I heard someone yell for help.” Wannabe said solemnly.
Who killed him?
Btw it was cosmic that was killed. For some reason, he was a pirate. He ran into many walls. Glasses and an eye patch, not gonna mix well… ALSO! His body was found in the hallway next to the stairs.
Answer:
Amy woke up cheerfully and checked the calendar to be sure it was the right day. It was her 16th birthday! She had been planning the party for weeks and it was finally ready. The invites were sent out to her 4 friends, the decorations were set up, the cake had arrived, the table was set, and the music was full blast. She had dreamed of this day her whole life and her dream would finally come true at 5:00pm. But come 6:30pm, there was still nobody to be seen. She thought they might've all been riding together and got stuck. She called them but no one answered. Two hours later, there was still no one around and Amy was left alone on her birthday. Her friends had ditched her.
Amy woke up the next morning depressed and sluggish. She was so disappointed and angry with her friends. She spent the whole day sketching on her porch when her friend Laura came up to her with her 3 other friends and exclaimed, "Why aren't you dressed? We're leaving in an hour!" Amy was confused. They missed her birthday, ignored her calls, and now they were telling her they were leaving. "We need to go soon if we're going to get a good spot at the concert," said Laura. At this point, Amy asked them, "What the hell are you talking about?" Laura grabbed her phone and pointed to a text explaining that they had tickets to go see their favorite band at the Hollywood Bowl. But the message was sent to a "Sammuel Redman." Amy pointed this out to Laura and they realized that she sent the information to the wrong person.
Laura apologized and Amy hustled into her birthday dress. They spent all night at the concert and had a great time.

Where does Achilleus drive his spear to kill Hektor?
The point of view from which the passage is told can best be described as that of: (A) a man looking back on the best years of his life as director of a community center in a strife-ridden neighborhood. (B) a narrator describing his experiences as they happen, starting with childhood and continuing through his adult years as an advocate for troubled children. (C) an unidentified narrator describing a man who devoted his life to neighborhood children years after his own difficult childhood. (D) an admiring relative of a man whose generosity with children was widely respected in the neighborhood where he turned around a declining community center
Answer:
(C) An unidentified narrator describing a man who devoted his life to neighborhood children years after his own difficult childhood.
Explanation:
In the given passage adapted from Gloria Naylor's The Men of Brewster Place, the first thing we can notice is the narrator who is unknown and unseen. We are not given who is narrating the events of Clifford Jackson's life and childhood.
But through the narrator, we are able to understand and get to know Clifford Jackson, or Abshu a lot more clearer. The narrator talks about Abshu's life in the foster homes and how he grew to be a social worker, trying to keep children out of trouble and help them however he can. Therefore, the point of view is from the unidentifiable narrator who talks about a man devoted to the neighborhood children after his own difficult childhood.
Thus, the correct answer is option C.

What new central idea emerges? How does Poe develop this idea in the
conclusion of the story? Cite TWO pieces of strong textual evidence to
support your analysis.
In the tell tale heart
Answer: Here are two short paragraphs to help you with your needs! Take the info of what you need from them!
Poe develops the central idea of obsession in “The Tell-Tale Heart” through his narrator who is disturbed by the old man’s eye. Poe also uses repetition to show the narrator’s preoccupation with the old man’s eye. Poe uses the story’s beginning to reveal the narrator’s obsessive personality. The narrator discusses how the old man’s eye is driving him to murder. “I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture.” From there, Poe further uses the narrator’s point of view to develop the narrator’s obsession, as the narrator strategically plots the murder of the old man. For example, the narrator describes in detail the plan he executes every night for “seven long nights,” just to get a glimpse of the old man’s eye. The narrator even says that he is unable “to do the work” on one of those nights because he does not see the narrator’s “Evil Eye.” The narrator’s obsessive nature is further revealed by Poe’s use of repetition. For example, Poe uses repetition to show how slowly and cautiously the narrator is moving, just to get a glimpse of the old man’s eye. “I kept quite still and said nothing. For a whole hour I did not move a muscle, and in the meantime I did not hear him lie down.” Additionally, Poe’s use of repetition reveals how fixated the narrator is on seeing the eye, so he can carry out the murder. “I resolved to open a little—a very, very little crevice in the lantern. So I opened it—you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily.”
• Poe develops the central idea of madness by creating an insane narrator to tell his story. Also, Poe uses punctuation to show how mad the narrator is. Poe chooses to begin his story with the narrator explaining himself after the murder has occurred. The narrator makes statements about his condition, saying he was and is “dreadfully nervous” but not insane. However, the narrator’s behavior contradicts his statement, as he exclaims at the reader, “Hearken!” and says he desires to kill the old man because of his eye. “Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees—very gradually—I made up my mind to take the life of the old man.” Poe uses the narrative point of view to introduce the reader to the narrator’s madness instead of just the story’s action. “It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and night.” Additionally, Poe chooses to have the insane narrator tell the story so readers can have access to his internal thoughts, further developing the idea of madness. For example, the narrator thinks he is wise and sneaky, instead of insane, for his detailed murder plans. “Oh you would have laughed to see how cunningly I thrust it in!” These thoughts further reveal his madness. The narrator also admits he has his own terrors. “I say I knew it well. I knew what the old man felt, and pitied him,” showing his madness. Additionally, Poe uses punctuation to show how excited the narrator is, revealing his madness. For example, the narrator talks loudly and excitedly when he thinks he “hears” the dead man’s beating heart: “Oh God! What could I do? I foamed—I raved—I swore!” Poe uses exclamation points to show how crazy the narrator is when he believes he is hearing the dead man’s beating heart.
