Read the passage. Then answer the questions below.

Philadelphia is a city known for many things. It is where the Declaration of
Independence was signed in 1776, and it was also the first capital of the United States.
But one fact about Philadelphia is not so well-known: it is home to nearly 3,000 murals
painted on the sides of homes and buildings around the city. In fact, it is said that
Philadelphia has more murals than any other city in the world, with the exception of
Rome. How did this come to be?
More than 20 years ago, a New Jersey artist named Jane Golden started a program
pairing troubled youth with artists to paint murals on a few buildings around the city.
From this small project, something magical happened. The young people involved
helped to create magnificent pieces of art, but there were other, perhaps more important
benefits. The young people learned to collaborate and get along with many different
kinds of people during the various steps required to paint and design a mural. They
learned to be responsible, because they needed to follow a schedule to make sure the
murals were completed. They also learned to take pride in their community. It is hard for
any resident to see the spectacular designs and not feel proud to be a part of Philadelphia.
Take a walk around some of the poorest neighborhoods in Philadelphia,
neighborhoods full of broken windows and littered front steps, and you will find beautiful
works of art on the sides and fronts of buildings. Of course the murals are not just in poor
neighborhoods, but more affluent ones as well.
Special buses take tourists to different parts of the city to see the various murals, which
range from huge portraits of historical heroes, to cityscapes, to scenes depicting the
diverse ethnic groups that call Philadelphia home.
As a result of its success, the mural program created by Jane Golden has now
become the nation’s largest public art program and a model for other cities throughout the
country seeking to help troubled youth.

Explanation:

a. The company will hire new workers after the pandemic.
b. The customer was being helped by the salesman.
c. The workers repaired the potholes last week.
Pls pls change this into passive it would be a great help

Answers

Answer:

A. New workers will be hired by the company after the pandemic.

B. NOTE: this sentence is already in the passive voice. Just in case, I will change it into active voice: The salesman was helping the customer.

C. The potholes were repaired by the workers last week.

Explanation:

In the active voice, the subject of the sentence is also the performer of the action described by the verb. Thus, to change a sentence into the active voice, we invert things. What was the subject becomes the agent, which comes after the preposition "by"; and what was the object of the verb becomes the new subject.

As for the verbs, we identify the tense and maintain it in the passive voice. But we should also add the auxiliary "be" and use the main verb in the past participle form.

Active: The company will hire new workers after the pandemic. --> Passive: New workers will be hired by the company after the pandemic.

Active: The workers repaired the potholes last week. --> Passive: The potholes were repaired by the workers last week.

When I first open the notebook, I take care to crease the cover gently so that it’s nice and flexible, and then I can enjoy writing without fussing. I’m happy about the notebook because now I can get started on writing down the song that’s been floundering in my head all week. the stranger came early in February, one wintry day, through a biting wind and a driving snow, the last snowfall of the year, over the down, walking as it seemed from Bramble Hurst railway station, and carrying a little black portmanteau in his thickly gloved hand. Which adjective best describes the setting that the words in this sentence help to evoke?

a) cozy

b) dreamlike

c) dull

d) harsh

(Explain why this is the answer)

Answers

Answer:

d) harsh

Explanation:

the answer is harsh because in the text it used the following words: "biting wind" and "driving snow". Those words indicate a harsh snow breeze and setting.

hopefully this is good enough! :)

Answer:

d)harsh

Explanation:

the diction "biting wind" has negative connotations that the conditions are absurdly cold to the point of the wind being personified as being able to bite. the diction "seemed" references that fact that the conditions are harsh enough to mask the landmark the man walks from and lastly the diction " thickly gloved hand" also emphasises the harshness of the conditions as it refers to the thickness of the mans gloves as a way to express the amount of layer needed to protect the man and his hands

Fren bought groceries that cost $14.40 .She paid the store clerk, Ping, with a $20 bill. Ping makes change by saying. 2 pennies make the total $14.40 . 6 dimes makes it $15.00 ,and 6 dollars makes it $20 .

Answers

Answer:

D. yes, ping should give five one dollar bills, not six

Explanation:

Given data is

Fren bought groceries.

The groceries cost = $14.40

She paid to ping (clerk) = $20

hence, the money should give by ping to fern is = $20 - $14.40 = $5.6

two pennies make the total of $14.40 which is true.

six dimes makes $15 this is also true.

six dollars makes $20 this is false.

Since $15 + $6 = $21 which is not equal to $20.
