A. The company has a clear lunch policy.
E. There are special considerations for employees who require additional time at lunch.
Explanation:Skimming is the process of reading a text rapidly to gain an overview of the text. To do so, read the title, the table of contents, and the headings for an overview of ideas. Glancing at any pictures, diagrams or charts, reading the entire introduction and the topic sentences of each paragraph also helps.
The first title has "Lunch Policy" in it, so that's why A is right. The second page has a title called "Considerations", so E is right. The other answers are wrong because those are information you'd find if you read the whole pages, not skimming them.

Which of these best describes this excerpt from Gerard Manley Hopkins 's "Pied Beauty"?
O It is an example of sprung rhythm.
It is an example of iambic pentameter.
It is an example of dialect poetry.
O It is an example of lyrical poetry,
Answer:
The option which best describes the excerpt is:
A. It is an example of sprung rhythm.
Explanation:
Gerard Manley Hopkins, born in 1844, was an innovative Victorian poet who came up with the concept of sprung rhythm.
In poetry, the purpose of sprung rhythm is to sound similar to natural speech, as if one is talking naturally. Because of that, it includes one stressed syllable and an undetermined number or unstressed syllables after it. Precisely because it allows for variation to happen, it sounds similar to natural speech. Notice that, if you read the excerpt out loud, the rhythm will be normal, just like talking. Usually, poetry would sound more like music, with a pattern to be followed and expected.

I find it that Carnivals are not only a waste of money and precious time, but also they are rooted to paganism beliefs. The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, edited by James Hastings states that carnivals were dedicated for the goddess Dionysus. She was primarily associated as the goddess of fertility and wine. But, she is also known as the goddess of “Grape-harvest, winemaking, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity and theatre” as mentioned by Wikipedia. The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics also states that: The worship of Dionysus had its Roman counterpart in the Bacchanalia, as also in the Saturnalia and Lupercalia—festivals which in the later Roman period were characterized by wanton raillery and unbridled freedom, and were in a manner a temporary subversion of civil order. This general spirit, together with certain special features, was transmitted to the Carnival in particular, and this explains why that festival has assumed its peculiar character in regions where Roman civilization reigned supreme.”—Vol. 3, page 226.
Carnivals were celebrated inside the Catholic environment. But, in reality what they did was a modification of ancient pagan festivals. The Encyclopedia Britannica, in its eleventh edition explains the attitudes of the popes toward carnivals. He stated:
“The carnival was held to begin on (6th January) and last till midnight of Shrove Tuesday. There is little doubt that this period represents a compromise which the church always inclined to make with the pagan festivals and that the carnival really represents the Roman Saturnalia. Rome has ever been the headquarters of carnival, and though some popes, notably Clement IX. and XI. and Benedict XIII., made efforts to stem the tide of Bacchanalian revelry, many of the popes were great patrons and promoters of carnival keeping.”—Vol. 5, page 366.
But why have religious leaders who have claimed to be Christian promoted a festival that is of pagan origin? The reason behind it is because of the profound attachment this festival had with the ancient people. The festival was so much attached to the people that the individuals did not want to give it up. So, what happened was that the Church gave in and let the individuals keep celebrating their festival or carnival by claiming it holy. And, the festival they changed its meaning, “associating them with Church teachings such as Lent” as so explains the magazine “Carnival and its Origins” published in 1973. The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics explains:
“By way of effecting a desirable change in the character of long-established popular festivals which could not be summarily abolished, the Church adopted the plan of providing them with Christian motives—a procedure which was very largely adopted in the case of the Carnival festivities.”
Carnivals are bad for people who are Christians and have a religious conscious. Sure, many people who aren't religious will come. But, we want an entire crowd of pagans, non-believers and Christian worshippers to assist to our events. So, its best to go for something that will appeal to everyone. And, focus on everyone's needs.

4 Point Essay Question: You should write at least 4 sentences for this response: Using either "I Want to Be Miss America" or "The Struggle to Be an All-American Girl," analyze how stereotypes and social expectations are portrayed within the text. In your response, please use two examples from the text to support your answer. Your answer should be four sentences.
Answer:
In the text "I Want to Be Miss America" We can see how four young immigrant sisters try to adapt to the American woman stereotype and what they learn throughout the process. The young Dominican sisters realized by watching the beauty contest "Miss America" that the stereotype of the American woman was nothing like her physical appearance. As described in the text, the color girls in the contest were the first ones to be left out, and the winners always were white and slim women, which reinforces the stereotype that the American woman should be white, shaved, and with straight hair. The girls also realized by watching "Miss America" that what society expected from women was for them to become perfect wives and mothers, but they become aware that they could also study and have other aspirations in life.
Explanation:
The text "I Want to Be Miss America" talks about four immigrant sisters in America that want to look and be like American girls. They watch the beauty contest Miss America and copy the American style as regards their looks. They realized that the stereotype of the American woman is the white, slim girl with straight hair, and they do not look like that. The other thing that they become aware of is the social expectations that the society has for women, which is to become a wife and a mother, but there other possibilities, like the contestants, who looked like the perfect wives, that attended college to aspire to something different.
The two examples in the essay are the color girls being the first to be left out of the contest and how the American woman should look (white, slim, straight hair).

Why are woman always getting paid less than men? Why can’t woman reach the same level as men in some jobs. Women must go through so many challenges to get to the spot they want to be at. Women are also judged different than men are how is that fair? After doing some research I had found out that “We observed that external hiring skews male for C-suite positions, which contributes to a corporate environment in which women are well represented at early-tenure positions but remain a minority at more senior levels. Only 27 percent of C-suite positions in media and entertainment are held by women.” Women are not getting the same treatment as men. Only 27% of the c-suite is held by woman! Women can do the same as men can. Even when woman is in men’s position some do not feel as if they are treated fairly. In an article it says, “Women who work in majority-male workplaces feel much differently: 48% say women are treated fairly where they work when it comes to recruitment and hiring, and even fewer (38%) say women are treated fairly in promotions and advancement.” A Husband and wife were interviewed to see if they were getting close to the same wage pays. The Husband says “We are treated very well in our job. We have a good amount of lunch time, and we get paid a good amount for the work we do.” While the wife says, “The job is good, but it doesn’t really pay much most of the woman are getting a little paid less we only make 12k a year versus my husband he makes 23k a year” Woman have been Getting paid way less than men. There are more women overall in the media and entertainment industries. 49% percent in mostly entry level. After conduction, some research o found out that woman is more satisfied with their jobs then most men. “Women in media and entertainment report career-satisfaction rates that are slightly higher than men’s—77 percent of women versus 75 percent of men. Additionally, 82 percent of women in our research reported a desire to be promoted to the next level, as compared with 71 percent of women across all industries. Indeed, 35 percent of women in media and entertainment said they had asked for a promotion during the past year, compared with 27 percent of men in the industry. These statistics suggest that the low representation of women in senior roles cannot be attributed to a lack of desire for advancement.” Sometime women choose different jobs that pay less, here is an example: A woman wants to work as a teacher, and get paid less then occupations, like some men could choose a lawyer and still get paid more. In an article I read it said “This is really quite remarkable. A parenthood premium for males, and a penalty for woman.” Women even get a 7% wage reduction because they have a child while for men, they get money from it. In some place women are asked if sexual harassment was a thing in their job. In the article “Women in majority-male workplaces report higher rates of gender discrimination” by KIM PARKER it states “About half of women who work in male-dominated workplaces (49%) say this is at least a small problem where they work, including 15% who say it’s a big problem. By comparison, about a third of women who work in gender-balanced (34%) or female-dominated (32%) workplaces say sexual harassment is a problem where they work. About one-in-ten of these women say it’s a big problem.”
Okay so I read over it and it need some adjustments. There are spelling mistakes, over usage of words, and a lot of evidence. I will list why I chose these things below:
Spelling mistakes: In the sentence, “ Women are Getting paid way less than men,” that g is capital when it doesn’t need to be. Also, in a few other sentences husband is starts with a capital when it shouldn’t.
Over usage of words: You used the word “women” a lot throughout the feature. Using one word over and over is not good, it pops up a lot. In other words, say someone was scanning over your report and they saw “women” a lot throughout the report. They would use interest because of the over usage of the word. Now, it may be because of the abundance of evidence and support, but I will get into that in a sec. In summary, you shouldn’t use one word a lot throughout any passage… mix it up a little, I understand your topic, but try to replace it a little.
A lot of evidence: There is an over abundance of evidence throughout the report, it makes it really hard to get through because it is long. Also side note, some of your evidence does not include a source, where you got the evidence from, you don’t want your reader to think your plagiarizing another persons idea and thoughts. Anyway, it’s a lot so evidence, it’s all supporting the same topic but it’s a lot of it! Maybe try to sum it up to at least 4 supporting details WITH a source.
Overall, I think that it is really good and you seem passionate about your topic. Only little tweaks, you should read over it to correct those little spelling errors, tidy it up and ORGANIZE your evidence. Try to shorten it a bit and replace the word “women” a little throughout the passage. Other than those tips I think you are good! It a great topic and I wish you the best of luck!
