what is the body paragraph for the stranger that came to town

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

“The Strangers that Came to Town”

“The Strangers that Came to Town” is a short story by Ambrose Flack that is about a family that moves in a new neighborhood, but has trouble adapting or being accepted as actual citizens. But as time went on, they eventually find their place in the new town. The kids make friends, and the family lives happy.  From the events that happen in the story, this paper will be explaining why the theme is to not judge a book by its cover.

The first reason why is how the Duvitch kids actually acted compared to what people thought. At first, they were really sweet, but the other people did not notice that. The kids helped the family unpack and they never spoke out. However, the kids were thought to be mean and horrible because of their clothes and food. Being judged like this, the kids never made friends. Later as time went on, and after the fish incident, people started to realize that they were not bad kids.

The second point is how the neighbor’s kindness helps elevate the Duvitch family. Tom and Andy return the fish, and the Duvitches start started to trust them more. Later after a discussion about the boys killing the fish, the neighbors invite the Duvitches over for dinner which was another act of kindness to them. After having dinner with the neighbors, they start to become more accepted, and they start fitting in.

In conclusion, we can all come to the same theme. Throughout the story, the Duvitches were desperate to find their place in the story. At first the Duvitch family is not accepted, but as time goes on they become popular. The kids make friends, and the family becomes loved. After everything that happens we can conclude to never judge a book by its cover.

Which inference can be made about the author's experiences in "Barrio Boy?" The author thinks his teachers and his classmates are barriers to his learning English and to his integration into American life. The author finds his classmates disrespectful of his Mexican heritage, which causes him to feel alienated from them and his instructors. The author sees his time at Lincoln School positively and thinks other students there did, too. The author believes Lincoln School is a domineering place where the educators are intent on forcing him to renounce his heritage and adopt the American way of life.

Answers

Answer:

In Barrio Boy, the author expressed his feelings about his childhood in the below excerpt:

"During the next few weeks Miss Ryan overcame my fears of tall, energetic teachers as she bent over my desk to help me with a word in the pre-primer. Step by step, she loosened me and my classmates from the safe anchorage of the desks for recitations at the black board and consultations at her desk."

This reveals that during his childhood days, he had fears as a first grader which could have hindered him from learning English Language, being bold and from blending with other children from other nationalities.

Explanation:

Ernesto Galarzo, in Barrio Boy wrote about his experiences right from childhood when his family migrated from Mexico to America. He further reveals the struggles which he faced trying to adapt to life in America. The story centers on a dramatic autobiography of the process of a boy from a Mexican village to a somewhat hectic and complex life.

Galarzo was a Mexican-American writer, storyteller, poet and activist.

Answer

Chaucer draws on the  ESTATES satire prevalent in his time to bring out the traits of the different classes of society. He uses the technique of  FRAME story to hold the narrative together.

Explanation:

Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" is a frame narrative story told by numerous pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. The tales told by the different characters all reflect their true selves, according to their professions and backgrounds.

In this tale, Chaucer draws on the estates satire which is a writing genre that focuses on the societal classes of the time. Most writings of this genre occurs during the Medieval times where class/ status plays a huge role in the identification and understanding of a person.

Chaucer also uses the technique of a frame narrative to make the stories stick together. This type of frame narrative is when a story is included in the main story, like different sub-branches from the main part. In simple words, we can say a frame narration is "a story within a story". This happens when a narrator tells a story about a person who then narrates a story too.

Among the 40 members of Greenville School's Archery Club, she was the only one who could hit a target 50 meters away. During the second term, a new student, Ripley, joined the archery club. On her first day, Ripley proved that she was just as good as Ellie. The instructor even believed that she could perform better than Ellie. Gradually, Ripley took over Ellie's position as the top archer of the school. As a result, Ellie lost a lot of friends who wanted to hang out with the new star archer. Finally, the day of the state archery tournament arrived. As expected, Ripley quickly climbed the scoreboards; Ellie followed closely behind. However, no one realized that Ellie had secretly been practicing for the final 50-meter round. When the final round was over, everyone was astonished. Ellie had struck a perfect bull’s-eye on all five attempts. She was the state champion! Everyone rushed to congratulate Ellie on her victory. She walked over to her rival, who was standing alone in a corner. Ellie took Ripley's hand and thanked her. If it had not been for her, Ellie would have never trained so hard. Over the next several years, Ellie and Ripley continued their rivalry. But when they were not on the field, they were the best of friends.
