Prometheus was considered the “Benefactor of Man”, and it is a title that he deserves in Greek mythology. Prometheus and his brother was given the important job of bringing life to the earth. Prometheus and Epimetheus would make animals and man from clay, and then Zeus breathed life into them. Prometheus and his brother were then given the job of giving the new creatures names, as well as “attributing all the characteristics to the creatures that the other Greek gods and goddesses had manufactured.”

Epimetheus took charge of this task. But, “having only “afterthought”, as mentioned by the article: “Greek Legends and Myths”, “Epimetheus used up all the characteristics provided before he got to man. In another instance Zeus took away fire from humanity and Prometheus retrieved it because he saw his creation suffered from cold. So, Zeus sent him away and tied him up. And, an Eagle would be sent every day to remove his regrown liver.
