William tyndale translated the bible from hebrew and greek into English. William Tyndale was an English biblical translator, humanist, and Protestant martyr. He was born between 1490 and 1494 close to Gloucestershire, England, and died on October 6, 1536, in Vilvoorde, close to Brussels, Brabant.
Tyndale attended the University of Oxford for his education before joining the faculty at the University of Cambridge. It was there that, in 1521, he met a group of humanist academics who were meeting at the White Horse Inn. Tyndale grew to believe that all believers should be able to read the Bible in their native language and that the Bible alone should govern the practices and doctrines of the church.
