(c) Daytonians have been laboring for years with an out-of-date municipal electric system that got its power from a nearby sawmill's steam plant. The city had already been forced to pay for new equipment without having any say in how it was managed. . In 1934, the city was asked to contribute funds to the repair of this dilapidated private plant, which was on the verge of shutting down and leaving the city without power.
The issue was discussed by the city commissioners. They reasoned, "If the TVA is going to start giving folks around here cheap electricity." "By golly, Dayton is more deserving than anyone else." So, at the commissioners' request (or, maybe, demand), TVA devised a system for local distribution. Though Dayton's rates had been about the lowest of any municipal system in the section, the following table shows what this transfer meant to her in dollars and cents:
Rates Prior to TVA
The first 20 kilowatt-hours are 8 cents each.
The next 30 kilowatt-hours are 7 cents each.
The next 50 kilowatt-hours are 5 cents each.
TVA's Current Rates
Each of the first 40 kilowatt-hours costs 3 cents.
The next 150 kilowatt-hours costs 2 cents.
The next 200 kilowatt-hours costs 1 cent.
The next 1000 kilowatt-hours costs 4 cents.
In a nutshell, TVA reduced the average Daytonian's electricity bill by around two-thirds. The number of power consumers in Dayton has climbed from 637 to 923 in the five years since the contract was signed. The overall number of kilowatt-hours consumed by each consumer has nearly doubled. Meanwhile, the city of Dayton has generated a net profit of $58,000 and now makes nearly $4,000 per month.

(d) The Tennessee Valley Authority Act had a lot of great benefits on citizens, but it had a lot of negative effects on private power utility businesses, which led to a lot of controversy about pricing and rights. The Tennessee Valley Authority Act (TVA), passed in 1933, was Franklin D. Roosevelt's most major reform legislation. Enacted in 1933, the Television Act (TVA). Its short-term goals were to create thousands of employment and offer affordable power to poor farmers in seven states, while its long-term goal was to break up the monopoly of overcharging private power firms in the Tennessee Valley. The seven states that were helped by this substantial act included Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. FDR believed that helping the most poverty-stricken areas of each state would help promote industrial development. Because the government was essentially supplying the jobs, the TVA primarily worked on public projects. Dams were built to produce lakes, forest and land conservation programs were undertaken, floodwaters were controlled, energy was created, and fertilizer was manufactured. These initiatives not only helped to rebuild the economy but also worked to improve the lives of residents who were in need.
While everything about this act seemed to be positive, it was not. The TVA had numerous failures and was embroiled in numerous controversies. Some members of Congress, who believed the government should not interfere with the economy, thought TVA was a risky scheme that would push the country closer to socialism. Privately held electricity businesses were mostly dissatisfied with the government's proposed regulations. They said that laying electrical power cables in remote, rural locations was prohibitively expensive. They also thought that many farmers would be unable to purchase electricity.
Eventually, when farmers were able to receive electric power, their purchase of electric appliances helped to increase sales for local merchants. Farmers required more energy than people living in cities, which helped to balance the extra cost involved in bringing power lines to the countryside. Despite their dissatisfaction, electricity firms continued to receive a monthly payment from these far-flung agrarian cultures.

Answer:
1. The issue of slavery
2. The issue of states' rights
Explanation:
The historical circumstances that led to the election results of 1860 are issues of slavery and states' rights to govern themselves.
Towards the election of 1860, all four presidential candidates including Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, John Breckenridge, and Stephen Douglas were picked along the issue of slavery, where the southern part believed that Slavery should be expanded but the Northern part believes slavery should be abolished.

Write one paragraph to explain what causes a revolution. Refer to the American Revolution and French Revolution in the answer
Answer:
Revolutions are complex processes that emerge from the social order becoming frayed in many areas at once. There are five elements that create an unstable social equilibrium: economic or fiscal strain, alienation and opposition among the elites, widespread popular anger at injustice, a persuasive shared narrative of resistance, and favorable international relations. Revolutions have both structural and transient causes; structural causes are long-term and large-scale trends that undermine existing social institutions and relationships and transient causes are contingent events, or actions by particular individuals or groups, that reveal the impact of longer term trends and often galvanize revolutionary oppositions to take further action.
Explanation: Although the French and American people had several distinct and differing motives for revolting against their ruling governments, some similar causes led to both revolutions, including the following: Economic struggles: Both the Americans and French dealt with a taxation system they found discriminating and unfair.

Answer: Southern and Western Congressmen whose nationalistic rhetoric took on belligerent tones against Britain
Explanation:
During the Napoleonic Wars, the British and the French imposed several measures on American trade in order to keep America from trading with either the French or the British as both were at war with each other. The British went so far as to forcibly recruit American sailors into British ranks.
America was humiliated and led to the rise of "War Hawk" Congressmen from the South and the West who called for war with Britain. Their constant lobbying for this war contributed in no small part to the War of 1812 against the British.
Young people have historically failed to participate in the election process - fewer young people vote than those of other age groups. Why do you think this occurs and how does this negatively impact democracy in the US?
The correct answer to this open question is the following.
Indeed, young people have historically failed to participate in the election process - fewer young people vote than those of other age groups.
I think this occurs because young people feel there is a lot of corruption and lies in the political system, and that politicians do not act with integrity.
Many youngsters notice how legislators endlessly argue with each other in the House of Representatives and the Senate, or how is the relationship between the executive branch and the legislative branch. And they don't like what they see. They turn to the other side
How does this negatively impact democracy in the US?
Of course, that behavior is not good because youngsters are the next generation that is going to run the United States.
They have to be prepared, informed, ready to fill the highest political spots and corporative spots to take the US into the next decade. And if they are not informed and actively participate in politics, it is going to be difficult for them to understand what the country needs to move forward.
