But there are two types of digestion:

Mechanical Digestion:

When your body breaks down food physically, such as when you chew food in your mouth. When your stomach squeezes and churns, it also breaks down food mechanically.

Chemical Digestion:

Chemical processes are used by your body to break down meals. To accelerate these chemical reactions, your body creates enzymes throughout your digestive tract. Enzymes are special proteins that cause chemical reactions to take place.
