Using these helped me understand and apply other facets of economics. The topics on fiscal and monetary policies was very interesting to me. I always here these terms and never truly understood them. After reading about and researching them, I was able to learn a lot about their influence in the world of economics in our country. I learned the difference between the two, and found fiscal policies have to do with taxes and is made by the government while monetary policies deal with interest rates and is made by the Federal Reserve. I feel like I can have grown, mature conversations, and understand the news better because of this knowledge. I want to learn more about foreign exchange and exchange rates. I also took international business this summer and found out how influential these rates are. There is also a major opportunity to be able to grow wealth through foreign exchange. A deep understanding of this will also help in my field as I am going into finance. I may work for a corporation that is international and I would need to understand how currencies play into my clients interests. As stated, I would be able to have conversations. Even though this may not seem like much, some of my cousins are in the financial field and are always talking about certain topics like fiscal and monetary policies. I always listen in, but can never give my own input into the discussion. Now I believe I can and they are a decade older than me so it would be a boost of confidence that I am talking business with my mature grown up cousins.
