Poverty is the absence of the means to meet basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. But poverty is much more than just a lack of resources. According to the World Bank Organization, hunger is a defining characteristic of poverty.

One is said to be living in a state of poverty if they do not possess a minimum amount of wealth as well as material possessions that are considered to be acceptable by society. When a person lacks the means to meet their basic needs, that person is said to be living in poverty. In this situation, figuring out what the fundamental needs first necessitate the identification of the impoverished.
