Answer:
Dear Sara, my day was not so great today. While I was sitting in school bored out of my mind it became windy. Throughout the day it seemed to get darker and the air was dusty. I was hoping the weather was going to clear up because I had to walk home today but unfortunately it did not. Even worse on the walk home it started to rain. All my papers and books were damp by the time I got home. So much for doing homework and having a productive evening. I ended up just watching tv and now I am about to go to bed. My day was not the best but I am glad that I had a relaxing night.

Reread paragraphs 8–10. What are the author’s tone and point of view as he describes the start of the fire and the first attempts to extinguish it? How can you tell?
Paragraphs 8-10
The fire had started at about 4:40 that afternoon, when somebody on the eighth floor threw a cigarette or a match into one of the great scrapheaps of cotton left over from the tailoring process. The pile quickly burst into flames.
Somebody alerted the factory manager, Samuel Bernstein, who grabbed some nearby buckets of water and dumped them on the fire. They did little good. The cotton scraps were explosively flammable, more so than paper, and there was roughly a ton of the stuff piled on the eighth floor alone.
Bernstein dumped more buckets of water on the growing fire, but by this point they had no effect whatsoever, and the flames were spreading to the tissue paper patterns hanging above the wooden work desks. He ordered workers to drag a fire hose from a nearby stairwell. They opened the valve, but there was no pressure. As a historian of the fire, David Von Drehle, has argued, Bernstein made a fatalLinks to an external site. decision in those first three minutes. He could have spent the time fighting the fire or evacuating the nearly five hundred workers. Instead, he battled the exploding fire, to no effect. If he had spent the time evacuating, it is possible that nobody would have died that day.

Explain whether her friends’ zombie trick helped the main character feel mentally prepared for the “Zombie 5K.” Use evidence from the text to support your answer.
Answer:
Her friends’ zombie trick did help the main character feel more mentally prepared for the “Zombie 5K.” Before her friends helped her out, she did not know what it would feel like to run while being chased by zombies. At the end of the story, she knows that she can complete the physical tasks of the race even while panicking and being chased. The text indicates this when Kristen says the main character “owned” the obstacle course while under pressure; the main character agrees and says she is not nervous about the race anymore. The fact that she says “anymore” indicates that she was nervous about the race before the zombie chase, but not now. This shows that she feels mentally prepared. The main character also starts laughing after she realizes how well she handled the obstacle course, even though she had been scared in the moment—this too indicates mental preparedness.

Nights and Dragons—
From the memoir of author Abigail Prynne
1
I sit at my desk listening to thunder growl outside my window. Flashes of light burst through the darkness, and wind races past my window. The thrilling combination of sight and sound conjures up visions of dragons roaring proudly, breathing fire, and soaring across the midnight sky. Dragons first fascinated me when I was a little girl. They have followed me ever since. The magnificent creatures appeared in storybooks I read in the library, paintings I saw in museums, movies I watched in the theater, and the dreams I had in my sleep. By the time I was thirteen, one question consumed me. I wanted to know if dragons ever existed, so I set out on a quest for facts.
2
As I started my research, I discovered many skeptics. Scientists presented evidence to show why dragons could not—and did not—exist. They explained that it would be impossible for dragons to fly because they would be too big. They laughed at the idea of dragons breathing fire. They pointed out that no other animal has ever done this. They said that if dragons had lived, someone would have found remains somewhere in the world. No bones about it, there were plenty of logical explanations. It would have been easy for me to accept that the only place dragons ever existed was in the imaginations of those who believed.
3
I could have given up, but I thought about my grandmother. She always told me that "people who believe that science is the answer to everything are missing out on everything else." With her words in mind, I searched some more. There were many facts that hinted that dragons may not be fictional. I noticed that cultures across the world all described dragons in similar ways. This was odd because they had no way to communicate with each other. I found dragons mentioned in more than just stories. They appeared in old legal papers, in the travel logs of Marco Polo, and in the Bible. I saw that the Chinese calendar uses a different animal each year. Dragons are included along with eleven real animals. I began to believe it was a real possibility that all of these people were talking about a creature that actually existed.
4
With renewed hope that there was some truth to the legends, I looked for new research. I found that some experts disagreed with popular arguments against dragons. They suggested that a dragon could have four stomachs like a cow. If it created stomach gases like birds, it might create enough to lift itself off the ground. This would give it the ability to fly. If it forced out air when diving toward the earth, it might release gases which could ignite into flame. When the animal died, the stomachs would release strong acids that would dissolve its dead body over time. Biologists backed up these ideas with sketches and models based on known animals. Not everyone agreed with these ideas, but many of the things we accept about dinosaurs and other extinct species started the same way.
5
I doubt we will ever truly know whether dragons existed. There may always be two sides to the fiery debate. Some will say the stories come from active imaginations. Some will believe with all their hearts that the legendary creatures roamed our ancient world. I don't know for certain which side to believe, but the sound and fury of a night like this makes me smile. It rekindles my childhood dreams and keeps the exciting possibility alive.
Which best states the main idea of the text?
I have found no proof that dragons ever existed.
I have found some proof that dragons may have existed.
I have always wondered if dragons existed, and I hope they did.
I have not been able to decide if dragons ever existed or not.

What is Mockingbird? The Mimidae family of passerine birds includes the mockingbirds. The habit of some species to loudly and repeatedly imitate the songs of other birds as well as the sounds of insects and amphibians is what makes them most well-known.
There are around 17 species in two genera, but three species of Galapagos mockingbirds were once divided into a third genus, Nesomimus.
Mimus and Melanotis are not each other's closest relatives; rather, Melanotis looks to be more closely linked to the catbirds, while Mimus' closest extant relatives appear to be thrashers, like the sage thrasher.

what is the passive voice of Someone has cut this tree with this saw.
Answer:
The Brainliest Answer! Passive voice: “The tree was cut down by the man.” Explanation: The sentence is identified as active voice as the subject “man” is doing the action of cutting which is verb, and tree is considered as object.
The passive voice is the grammatical formation where the object is placed in focus along with the verb. The given sentence is passive voice would read as:
'This tree has been cut with this saw (by someone).'
Passive Voice
In the construction, the object replaces the subject and plays a lead role by including the action of the verb. The subject turns a recipient of the action and goes into a passive role instead of actually doing the action. Thus, the emphasis shifts from the doer to the object and the action. Since the given sentence is in present perfect('has + V3'), its passive too will be made in present perfect by replacing the position of the subject and object('object + has been + V3(past participle) + by + subject).Learn more about 'passive voice' here:
