All you have to do is keep your head down and avoid learning new things or making new friends. It demonstrates to me that you live your entire life with your cultural identity; you can change your normal identity, but when it comes to your culture, things go downhill quickly. It's a lot more difficult to work with team and traditions and activities than it was when your parents did so. entire culture just by changing her name. Now, you might think she got off easy, and I agree, but it was a symbol of her ancestry and all of that stuff that was passed down, so I imagine it was difficult to get over.
