Thousands of houses were burned down but they were all eventually rebuilt but it took many years. The fire continued to burn and lasted for around four straight days. The wind continued to change direction and fanned out the fire to different areas. Finally, the fire stopped and even though few people lost their lives, the fire was one of the worst in the 17th century.
