All particles of the solid are closely packed or the attraction between the particles is very high, making them rigid. Examples of solids can be, Wood, Ice, Stone, etc.

The next one, Liquid, has a particular volume but no such shape. Rather it can adopt the form of the container it is in. The attraction between the particles is lesser than Solid. Milk, water, etc are examples of liquid.

The next one. Gas doesn't possess any particular volume or shape. The attraction between the particles is the least. They are highly compressible. Examples include Oxygen, Carbon dioxide, etc.
