But active introspection is not necessary to hold a conviction. For instance, few people thoroughly ponder whether or not the sun will rise tomorrow; instead, they just assume it will. In addition, beliefs can be dispositional rather than occurring (e.g. a person who if asked about the colour of snow would assert "snow is white").
