What was the Declaration of Independence? Why did the Colonies want to be independent?

Answers

Answer:

Why was the Boston Tea Party an important step in the sequence of events leading to the colonies declaring independence (freedom)?

How did the Boston Tea Party and the passing of the Intolerable Acts lead to colonists declaring independence (wanting freedom) from Great Britain?

Please answer in your own words

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Declaration of Independence formally announced the independence of the colonies and their breaking away from Great Britain. They wanted to be able to explain why they wanted freedom, revolution, and how they were a new country.

The colonists wanted to be independent mainly because they felt as if Great Britain was treating them unfairly. Before the French and Indian War, Great Britain had practiced salutary neglect with the colonists. There was no problem, as the colonists were mainly left alone and were not being interfered with. After the French and Indian War, Great Britain had stopped practicing salutary neglect in order to pay for the very expensive war.

This meant that Great Britain started taxing the colonists, which they despised and felt it was completely unfair because they had nobody to represent them in the British Parliament, known as "taxation without representation." Great Britain defended themselves, however, saying that they needed money to pay for the French and Indian War, which was fought on their soil. They also stated that they were using their troops in order to protect the colonists from Native Americans, so their taxing was justified.

Along with taxing, the colonists also did not like other things that Great Britain did, like the Quartering Act and the Intolerable Acts. They felt as if Great Britain was overbearing and unfair and simply wanted independence from them.

3. How were there more slaves in the colonies even after the transportation of slaves was
banned in 1807?

Answers

Answer:

The Act of 1807 made it unlawful for British people to acquire or sell slaves, or to be involved in the slave trade in any way. Many, on the other hand, simply avoided its prohibitions. Slave ships were routinely outfitted at British ports such as Liverpool and Bristol. In reality, carrying slaving equipment such as shackles was not considered proof of involvement in the slave trade until 1811. Even after it became difficult for slave ships to be fully outfitted at British ports, ships continued to build out and carry their slaving equipment just outside British seas.

Part A: How do the early efforts of women during the suffrage movement compare to the later years

Answers

The suffragette movement was a feminist movement that took place at the end of the 19th century in the democratic countries of the world, whose objective was to guarantee that women had the right to vote.

The movement, considered also as the first wave of feminism, demanded gender equality and the extinction of sexism.

The right to vote was granted after an intense feminist struggle in New Zealand, in 1893, and in England in 1897. In the United States, the right to vote in 1920.

According to historical dates, therefore, we can conclude that the beginning of the suffrage movement and each achievement benefited women around the world to also fight for their rights.

In the US, the suffragette movement was inspired by the English and also influenced black women in the pursuit of racial equality and gender equality.

Therefore, we can conclude that it was from the first efforts of women during the suffrage movement that the later years were marked by more feminist struggles and the gain of rights by women, such as the right to vote, the right to political participation and the right to take decisions about your own future.

This first movement of the feminist struggle was essential for women to be able to fight for more rights throughout history.
