Dunn believes US law needs to go further to protect victims of sexual violence. She is pushing for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), a proposed constitutional amendment which reads, “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.” Back in the 1970s, the ERA was supported by both major political parties, as well as president Nixon (and later presidents Ford and Carter).
