Time really change pretty fast to be honest, and if it is change fast, kids from my generation and the new generation are changing fast every day, every hour that past by and this new gen is always bringing new morals and values to all of us. Being part of this generation, I have experienced a lot of things that is going on in school for example: Teens are becoming more involved in drinking alcohol and smoking.
In fact almost everyone starts to drink alcohol before way before graduating from high school and even worse is that 1/2 of this kids have tried by 8th grade. And 44% of teens have tried cigarettes by the end of high school. They always say that "I do it because doing this makes me look cool" but is this really alright tho? This is the message that kids now a days are reflecting to others and another cause of this is new gen music as well as movies. Modern music of today revolves around drugs, drinking, partying all night etc. Movies and TV shows glorify being arrested and drinking or smoking. Every four to five teens arrested are also very common because they are drunk or consuming to much drugs at the time. Is this really what we want for the new generations of kids?
Many people think that the only people harmed by tobacco use are smokers who have smoked for a long time. The fact is that tobacco use can be harmful to everyone specially teens. 90% of smokers start before age 18. About 1/3 of them die of smoking-related disease. Other may experience the same health problems as adult smokers.

According to the "rare Earth hypothesis," the conditions that support life on Earth are unique, and the odds of similar

the ground. Then it snowed at a rate of i Inches per
hour for 7 hours. By Tuesday at 7:00pm there were
25 inches of snow on the ground. Which equation
represents the situation?
Answer:
B). 4 + 7i = 25
Explanation:
Since there was already 4 inches of snow, the first term (4) is correct. Adding 7i is also correct because the problem states that it snowed at a rate of i inches per hour for 7 hours. All of it being equal to 25 is correct because the problem states that there was a total of 25 inches of snow.

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:
Doctor Pascal
by Emile Zola
In the heat of the glowing July afternoon, the room, with blinds carefully closed, was full of a great calm. From the three windows, through the cracks of the old wooden shutters, came only a few scattered sunbeams which, in the midst of the obscurity, made a soft brightness that bathed surrounding objects in a diffused and tender light. It was cool here in comparison with the overpowering heat that was felt outside, under the fierce rays of the sun that blazed upon the front of the house.
Standing before the press which faced the windows, Dr. Pascal was looking for a paper that he had come in search of. With doors wide open, this immense press of carved oak, adorned with strong and handsome mountings of metal, dating from the last century, displayed within its capacious depths an extraordinary collection of papers and manuscripts of all sorts, piled up in confusion and filling every shelf to overflowing. For more than thirty years the doctor had thrown into it every page he wrote, from brief notes to the complete texts of his great works on heredity. Thus it was that his searches here were not always easy. He rummaged patiently among the papers, and when he at last found the one he was looking for, he smiled.
For an instant longer he remained near the bookcase, reading the note by a golden sunbeam that came to him from the middle window. He himself, in this dawnlike light, appeared, with his snow-white hair and beard, strong and vigorous; although he was near sixty, his color was so fresh, his features were so finely cut, his eyes were still so clear, and he had so youthful an air that one might have taken him, in his close-fitting, maroon velvet jacket, for a young man with powdered hair.

Juxtaposition isn't hard once you learn to recognize it, but Gandhi uses it in a complex way. To make sure you
understand this technique, use this passage from Gandhi's writing to practice.
"... our Shastras teach us that there shall be no co-operation between injustice and justice, between and
unjust man and a justice-loving man, between truth and untruth. Co-operation is a duty only so long as
Government protects your honour, and non-cooperation is an equal duty when the Government instead of
protecting robs you of your honour. That is the doctrine of non-cooperation."
There are at least four examples of juxtaposition in this passage. Can you find them all?
1. injustice vs.
2. unjust vs.
3. truth vs.
4. protects vs.
Answer:
1. injustice vs. justice
2. unjust vs. justice-loving
3. truth vs. untruth
4. protects vs. robs
Explanation:
Juxtaposition is perceived in a text when the author presents in the same sentence, or in the same line of thought, two contrasting elements that show opposing ideas that do not complement each other. We can see Gandi using this technique very simply in the text above, where he shows the juxtaposition of elements very literally and directly. These juxtapositions can be seen in the following elements:
1. injustice vs. justice
2. unjust vs. justice-loving
3. truth vs. untruth
4. protects vs. robs

You're researching how Jazz developed as a musical form. Which source should you use?
Select one:
a. a documentary about the history of jazz, originally broadcast in 2001 on public television
O b. a review of a jazz festival that took place recently in your community
Clear my choice
evious page
E
Answer:
a
Explanation:
b isn't a reliable source because the person that's giving you the review probably won't tell you how jazz developed as a musical form. A review is about a person's experience about some place. A documentary will tell you how Jazz developed as a musical form because a documentary will tell you more about how Jazz developed as a musical form than some random person on the internet.

The Pollution by Problem Roberto Bererra
Unfortunately, pollution is like air: it’s everywhere! Pollution is the introduction of harmful substances into the environment that can cause damage and harm to humans, animals, and the environment. It takes on a number of different forms, from chemicals and garbage to something as seemingly innocent as light or noise.
Pollution comes from a variety of sources. In addition, it alters, changes, and even destroys a variety of places. For example, exhaust from cars pollutes the air. When it rains, runoff from fertilizers and pesticides, which farmers use to help crops grow, can pollute the water in oceans, rivers, lakes, and streams. Garbage dumped in landfills is not only an eyesore, but also a source of harmful gases that can damage the earth’s atmosphere. Light pollution, which comes in the form of bright streetlights or signs, disrupts the view of the night sky. Noise pollution caused by cars, trucks, and machines interrupts the natural sounds of the world around us, such as birds singing or leaves rustling.
The types of pollution and their effects vary greatly. At the same time, however, they are related; each type of pollution affects the other types. An example of the connection between different types of pollution is acid rain. Acid rain is caused mostly by sulfur or nitrogen emissions given off by sources such as car exhaust and the burning of fossil fuels such as coal. These harmful chemicals rise into the atmosphere where they react with other compounds and then fall as an acidic form of rain, sleet, or snow. Acid rain damages plants and buildings, contaminates soil and water, and has a negative effect on animals, fish, and even humans.
Pollution has other effects, too. Breathing toxic air or drinking polluted water can cause humans and animals to develop health problems that can be serious and sometimes deadly. The deaths of too many members of a certain species of animal can upset the local ecosystem, or the area in which they live. As a result, weather patterns and climates can also change.
Though pollution is everywhere, there are ways to help prevent it. By walking or riding bikes—instead of driving cars—people can help decrease air pollution. People can also buy and eat organic foods to support farmers that do not use fertilizers on their crops. It is also a good idea to take old things that people intend to throw away and find new ways to use them. A great way to help the environment is to recycle. Save items like used paper, glass and plastic bottles, and metal cans. Then, take them to a recycling center where they can be turned into new products to be used again. Some cities and towns even have recycling programs in place so all you have to do is leave your recyclable items on the curb on a certain day each week. It doesn’t get much easier to help the environment and reduce pollution than that!
The statements below make persuasive appeals to the reader about the dangers of pollution. Some of the statements make appeals to logic (logos); some make appeals to emotion (pathos); and some make appeals to ethics or establish the authority of the speaker (ethos). Move each statement into the column that matches its type of appeal.
Answer:
1. A local ecosystem can be upset by the death of certain species of animals.
